This is what civil disobedience looks like! After a three-week complete shut down of Austrian retail businesses, shops were allowed to reopen on Monday under strict coronavirus guidelines. Despite continued totalitarian restrictions and warnings, mask-less Austrians flooded the the stores and Christmas markets.

Interior Minister Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) warned that the police would be closely monitoring for violators, “especially in shopping streets, reinforced patrols will monitor compliance with the Covid rules.” Nehammer stressed that “the fines of the health authorities are extremely high – up to 1,450 euros.”

Despite the warnings from the Interior Minister, Austrians continued their lives as normal, refusing to wear face coverings and enjoying the Christmas season. As reported previously at RAIR Foundation USA, “Citizens across the globe are getting fed up with arbitrary coronavirus mandates based on nothing but the tyrannical whims of politicians, based on fake science by partisan physicians.”

Watch the following video posted by German news group, Politikstube and exclusively translated by RAIR Foundation USA filmed at Graben Square in Vienna. This is one of the most famous shopping areas in the city.

Many thanks to Miss Piggy for the following translation:

Narrator:
I’m here at Graben Square and really quite happy that there’s such a display of disobedience.
Let me show you. —[Laughing] That’s right!
So this is how the lockdown looks in Vienna.
This is so awesome. —It’s really funny. With all talk about the pandemic, there doesn’t
appear to be one. At least not in people’s minds.
I’m really happy about that. Unfortunately, I forgot my selfie stick, so the video’s a bit shaky.
So all these people are standing in line at Zanoni. They have ice cream.
So, I don’t know, maybe these folks don’t think it’s cold enough?
Anyway, at least it looks very friendly and Christmassy here.
Christmas in Austria, during a pandemic.
