Thousands joined for a peaceful walk to protest against the 3rd strict national lockdowns on January 31, in Vienna. “Kurz must weg, keine diktatur!” (Kurz must leave, no dictatorship).
The police supported the protesters, walking with their helmets in hand and showing Solidarity!
Just as in Germany, many people in Austria still have strong memories of the nazi regime and are very reluctant to go along with authoritarian measures. In a recent decision the Constitutional Court ruled that mask obligations in school could not be argued and were illegal.
However, Reuters reports:
Thousands protest in Vienna as far-right march on COVID measures banned.
